Dear Friends and Family,
Hello! I’ve been here in Gainesville ,Georgia, for about a month! How crazy is that? It feels like just yesterday I was telling everyone I still had a whole year before I left. Now here I am! This new chapter in my life has been filled with so many changes and new surroundings. I’ve already seen so much of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Here’s just a few images that capture life here in Gainesville. Enjoy!
Every morning I am surrounded by sunshine peeking through trees, birds chirping, and cheerful little insects. Although I’ve never been much of a camper, this new outdoor lifestyle has made my heart joyful. I appreciate all of the quiet mornings, golden sunrises, and rustling leaves.
On Sunday's we have squad church! A different team each week will put together a church service for the rest of us. It’s always a sweet time being all together, sharing laughs, and diving into God’s word!
On weekends we practice Sabbath! Saturdays and Sundays are spent creating intentional time to rest and be with the Lord. There are a lot of quiet places on base to hide away and pray, read, journal, or just lay out and watch the clouds.
On September 25th, all of the squads were able to go to Atlanta for an event called OneRace! OneRace is a gospel-centered reconciliation movement that exists to displace historic racism through prayer, relationship, equipping, mercy & justice. We had the opportunity to run a 5k in the morning, and the rest of the day was spent worshipping and learning about the cause.
A cool God story!! During the event, my mind was not in a great place and I was struggling with lots of doubts. As I worshipped, I was also praying that God would just show me He was with me. About ten minutes later, a lady I had never met came up to me and said the Lord put me on her heart and that she felt like she should come pray for me. It was such a sweet moment because the Lord truly showed me He was there and answered my prayer by bringing that lady to me. Sasha, I will never forget this beautiful moment with you! (Also, thank you to Amelia Tabatt for capturing the moment!)
Here’s just a glimpse of the wonderful friends I’ve made since being here!
Lastly, meet my team! Also known as Team Eden! This group of five gals are the people I will be doing ministry with the most and they’ll soon become like sisters! We are all already so close and I’m so excited to grow with them and walk alongside them in their journey.
That’s all for now! On October 16th, my squad and I will be heading to Louisiana to partner with Samaritans Purse. We will be back October 31st and head to Costa Rica November 5th!
